Fluctuation-dissipation relation in accelerated frames
Prior to my doctoral research, I worked on a project related to Unruh radiation (a thermal bath of uniform temperature), that an uniformly accelerated observer will see in the Rindler spacetime. Through the equivalence theorem’s implication that an accelerated frame can mimic gravity, the properties of Unruh radiation also apply to Hawking radiation. In this project, we modeled the thermal radiation bath as a simple scalar field and showed that it can be treated with the same apparatus of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics related to the fluctuation-dissipation theorem governed by the Langevin equation that applies to other phenomena such as Brownian motion.
